How To Improve Your Website Conversions

What is it and why is it important?

Website conversion is quite simply the conversion of the incoming traffic to sales. It is the crucial indicator of the success of your business. Your website might be receiving tons of traffic but if you're not able to convert them into sales, it's all effort gone to waste. You'd be surprised at how many businesses spends tons of money to divert traffic but do not invest the time and money to convert them into sales.

How to increase conversions? There are many ways you can turn that visitor into not just a customer but a repeat customer. That means he or she will not just love your site but tell others and they tell others about your site. Get the picture? And that's just one customer we're talking about. Imagine if you could do that with all the traffic that comes into your site? We're talking exponential sales!

So now before you scratch your head and start day dreaming about your booming business, let's get down to the basics. Here are a few simple tips to jumpstart your website conversion rate:

Shopping cart. As obvious as this seems, most people do have a shopping cart. But the thing they overlook is the add' button next to it. You need to mention something like Ad to shopping cart' or Add to the shopping basket' etc. This is also known as the call to action and plays a crucial role in getting your visitor to do what you want them to do - shop!

Be honest. Let's face it - if you don't have stock of some product, mention it upfront. Customers will respect you for it for having not wasted their time. That'll also save them the hassle of digging through the online catalogue and adding it to the shopping cart - only to find it's not in stock. What a waste!

Easy accessibility. It is essential to get your site visibility on the Internet. I mean, there are hordes of e-commerce sites out there literally waiting to get their customers' business. What makes you think your website is so special?

- Therefore use appropriate keywords to get traffic to your site.

- Optimize your website to ensure better search ranking.

- Use persuasive articles that get the reader's attention.

Selling the right' products. When it comes to selling you want your website to do well, right? Well that's only going to happen if you sell products that customers want. Also important is ensuring you're selling to the right audience. Imagine selling mascara to a baby! Unthinkable, right?

Easy payment. Customers today have little patience. And we don't mean it in a bad sense. It's only natural they are impatient - there's loads to do and the Internet is just a speck in their lives. If they wish to purchase something they want it done fast, smooth and hassle free. If you want your website to convert more sales, you'll need to ensure the payment gateway on your website is fast, secure and reliable. Most importantly there should be no slow pages. This can literally kill any sale. If the customer can't shop fast and secure on your site he or she will go to some other site.

Search functionality. Our customers are patient too. Contradictory? Not really. Not if you consider that if they do not find what they're looking for, they'll try searching for it on your website. But you don't have search functionality in your website? All hell breaks loose and the customer has vanished from your site in no time! Sounds familiar? It's time to get a search box included in your website This is basic but still many businesses think they can get away without one. Big mistake!

Customer behavior. Analyzing backend search logs to analyze customer behavior can really pay rich dividends. Do customers visit a particular product only during holiday season or during sales? Make sure to keep enough stock handy during these times. Or do customers try downloading an e-book only to leave it midway? An analysis will tell you if the cause is a broken link or slow internet speeds.

How to Become an Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate Marketing is becoming the fastest growing ways to make money online. You see ads web pages all the time. Guess what? They are affiliate marketing.

How affiliate marketing works is that you sign up for a product to promote, you promote it, someone buys it and you get paid. That sounds simple dont it? Well, it is kind of simple. You will have to learn how to find the right products to promote and how to promote it, but Ill tell you about that later.

First thing first is you need to go to a site like Commission Junction and sign up. Once you sign up, you can browse what kind of products they offer that you can promote. Once you find something there to promote, you can add the code to your site. Make sure you pick something that will be compatible with your website. Like, if your website is about fixing cars, you find an affiliate program that has do with where to get parts for the car.

You need to make sure your affiliate link or banner is somewhere that will get people to notice it and make them want to click on it. This up to you/ try different location until you find one that works for you.

Once you have that set up the code on your website, you will have to promote the page to get people on the site. That is somewhat easy to do. The best and easy way to do it is to post in forums that is similar to your site and have you site in the signature. You can also write articles on sites like this one with your link in the resource portion of the article.

Now you might be saying, what if I dont have a website? Well, thats fine also, just make a blog about a subject that you know about and go to Commission Junction to find an affiliate product to promote it.

Now the key to promoting it, isnt to add it to your blog or website and telling them to click on the link for great deals. I have seen people do that but for me, I dont like doing that. Let them click if they want to.

Also if you dont want to start a blog, you can also use a signature in a forum if you post in the right forums. But thats sometimes is frowned upon. I have seen people do that before though. Im not sure how much money you can make doing it this way, but you can always try it if that is what you want to do.

Using Affiliates In Making Sales

Online shopping has become commonplace and accepted by most internet users nowadays. The benefits it provides are so positive, it is no wonder people flock to shopping online. You can shop any hour of the day or night, compare prices, have an amazing inventory to choose from at shops all around the globe, and once you order all you have to do is wait for it to arrive at your doorstep.

The acceptance and demand for online shopping has therefore compelled more and more people to open online stores to get a piece of this action. Someone operating a store out of their own home can compete with the retail giants that offer online shopping.

Obviously one needs a quality product sold at a reasonable price to be successful but aside from that, the key to success online is getting people to visit your online store. If no one comes, you cant sell anything. There are many tactics you can take to attract people to your store and a popular method is to use affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing enlists the aid of others to drive people to your online store. Generally speaking, people have no desire to help you out of the simple kindness of their hearts. Instead, you have to bribe them in some way. You do this by making them your affiliates and giving them a cut of the sale if a person they send makes a purchase at your site.

It is a win win situation. You get a visitor and a sale you would not have otherwise gotten, and the affiliate gets money for his efforts in sending someone to your online store. Just imagine the power of this if you have 10 affiliates, or 100. Many stores derive the majority of their sales from affiliate referrals. Affiliate marketing is a lucrative proposition and big business on the internet.

So how do you find these affiliates to help you make sales? You first have to develop an affiliate program and have a way of tracking your visitors and sales. This can be a complicated procedure, or you can make it simple. If you sell a digital product for example, you can use http://clickbank.com and the affiliate end of your business is all done for you. All you need to do is recruit affiliates. If you have a physical product for sale, you can use a company like http://paydotcom.com to automatically put your affiliate program into place. In order to use these companies you need to pay them a small percentage of each sale you make but it is worth it because you dont have to program your own affiliate tracking site.

Once you have your affiliate program ready to go, list your online store with affiliate directories found on the internet or recruit affiliates directly by placing ads in appropriate places such as adwords, or webmaster forums.

Giving Yourself Permission To Succeed Massively

On September 29th, 2006, I logged onto the Internet, read a few negative posts on several online discussion forums, and decided that I'd earn one million dollars over the next 90 days. I decided to do this, and to document it, to demonstrate that you really can do anything that you give yourself permission to accomplish.

To back myself into a corner, I publicly declared that this was what I was going to do. This set in motion a success principle that not many people understand. Merely stating an intention, with a firm conviction, causes "things" to align to make it happen.

Publicly declaring that you will do something, and firmly believing that you will, causes your subconscious mind to begin working ceaselessly on figuring out "the how."

I honestly had no idea HOW I was going to do this, and that's where you come into the picture. I invite you along as it all unfolds. In fact, I invite you to make a conviction to allow success to happen massively in your life.

If you'd like to follow along as I document my thoughts and actions, you can at: http://MillionDollar90Days.com/results/ I will not go into minute details there, but will paint a broad-brush picture for you.

What does it take for you or I to give ourselves permission to succeed massively anyway?

For most of us, it takes a radical shift in thinking. This is especially true if we had no role models in our developmental years who were major successes.

The first step in achieving massive success is believing that its possible. One of the easiest ways to achieve that is to study, and read about, those who have actually accomplished what you hope to achieve.

The second step, is to believe that YOU can achieve it, and that you deserve to. It's fairly easy to believe that others can accomplish incredible things. We only need to glance at rockets venturing into space, or the magic of the internet, to see what others can do. It's a major leap though to believe that we can accomplish such marvelous feats ourselves.

Even after we believe that we can do it, we have to "get over" feeling that it's "not right" for us to have major success. For many of us, our upbringings instilled in us the deep-seated belief that some things like having massive wealth, is inherently wrong. My grandmother, who loved me dearly, often reminded me that "money is the root of all evil." This is far from what the Bible, that she unintentionally misquoted, actually says :-)

To get to step two, you need to develop what "serial millionaire," Lisa Diane calls "The Million Dollar Mindset." You can download a free MP3 recording on how you develop this mindset from her website at: http://UnderAMillionairesWings.com

This MP3, which has inspired many, is scheduled to be taken down in a few days so grab it now.

A third necessary step that is absolutely essential is that you get over "excusitis" and "blameitis." Rationalizing that others can do it because of unique advantages is really unfounded.

Take a few minutes and actually study the backgrounds of some of the leading Internet markets. You can do this by reading or listen to audio interviews of them at: http://InSearchOfHeroes.com

When you study those that you think had unique advantages, you'll discover ordinary people who suffered from depression, addictions, homelessness, suicidal tendencies, gang involvement, bankruptcy, being fired, being shot, business failures, and dozens of other challenging human conditions.

When you really examine the backgrounds of those who have succeeded massively, and that you therefore feel somehow owe you a helping hand, you'll discover people who sometimes put in 80 to 100 hour work weeks routinely. You'll discover people who simply Wanted it bad enough to put in the effort.

Giving yourself permission to succeed massively often means adjusting your attitude. That's usually the first requirement. After that, it means committing to taking massive, massive action. It also means not ever considering the possibility of giving up. Temporary setbacks are always a possibility, but quitting can never be an option.

If you feel ready for the challenge, I invite you to give yourself permission to succeed massively. If you want to wait until you see how I do it, that's fine too. However, I've just told you HOW I plan on accomplishing it.

Right now - you only need to give yourself permission, and then allow your marvelous minds (conscious and subconscious) to show you how.

Career Assessments Help Moms Returning To Work

In 2000, about 77% of women in the prime ages of 25 to 54 were in the workforce. However, the tide has turned and mothers challenged with balancing careers and family have decided to drop out of the workforce. Yet, at home, they find they long to use their skills in a way that contributes constructively to a business. They hope for a flexible work schedule and time with the family to create work/life balance.

They know that one day they will re-enter the workforce full-time. Some may have to return to the working world, for one reason or another, long before they thought they would. They know that when they do attempt to return, the gap in their resume will create a huge disadvantage. So, they are thinking ahead. They want to fill that gap with flexible, part-time work. Theyll have references and marketable skills to show for their time away from full-time work.

At Smart Moms Online we encourage Stay-at-home moms to think ahead to the day they may return to work. The time to prepare for returning to work will come at different stages for different women. Some begin planning within months of being at home. For others it is only after a few years that they feel ready to make that decision. Whatever the timing, if you are a stay-at-home mom, we advise you to put more than thought into it. Pursue work-at-home opportunities to gain experience for your resume.

You should assess your computer skills. It is very important to know what skill levels you posses in the software packages you would be required to use on a job. If your skills are not as sharp as they should be, then pursuing software training is the next logical step. Legitimate employers want employees who have the skills that apply to their jobs. Beware of ads that say No Skills Required. What would you be doing that requires no skills? Think about it.

If you were in a field that is greatly affected by technology, policy changes or other advancements, being out for even a few short years can make skills obsolete. If you wish to return to that field we also suggest that you keep up with the happenings in that industry. Stay connected to their previous employer, their industry associations, journals and other publications. Take classes to update skills and stay in the game.

Often, moms returning to the workforce choose to pursue a totally new field. They may have decided their old field is too demanding for them at this stage of life. Or, they just want to do something different. Wouldnt it be great to explore your interests to determine where you belong?

Did you know that evaluating your strengths and weaknesses may help you develop a better resume or sell your self stronger on a job interview?

Free Career Assessments are valuable tools that will help you determine where your skills stand as well as helps you zero in and get focused on who you are and what you would enjoy doing.

The Three Most Common Affiliate Mistakes And How To Avoid Them

By now I'm sure you have realized that affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways is of earning some money online. Affiliate programs give everybody a chance to make a profit through the Internet. Since they are easy to join, implement and pay a commission on a regular basis, more an more people are now willing in this business.

But like with all businesses, there are countless pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business as well. Making some of the most common mistakes will result in decreasing everyday profits for the marketers. That is why you should avoid them now than be regretful in the later.

First Mistake: Selecting the wrong affiliate program.

Logically, many people want to earn affiliate marketing commission as fast as possible. By rushing through the selection stage, they tend to choose a bandwagon product. These are products that the program thinks is "hot". They choose the product that is in demand without actually considering if the product appeals to them. In many cases, this is not a very wise move obviously.

Instead of doing this, try top choose a product in which you are truly interested in. For your internet venture to succeed, you should take some time to plan and decide your action plan.

Choose a product that appeals to you. Then do some research about that product to see if they are in demand. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one only for the sake of cashing in.

Second mistake: Not buying the product or using the service.

When you decide to be an affiliate, your main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve this purpose, you must be able to relay that certain product and service to the customers. It may be difficult for you to do this when you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you probably will fail to promote and recommend them convincingly. You will also fail to create a desire in your customers to avail any of what you are offering.

The best thing to do is to try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. After you have done this, you are one of the credible and satisfied customers aware of it's advantages and disadvantages. People will then feel the sincerity and truthfulness in you and this will trigger them to try them out for themselves.

Mistake number 3: Joining too many affiliate programs.

Because affiliate programs are very easy to join, you might feel the temptation to join various affiliate programs to try and maximize the commissions you will be getting. You also may think that there is nothing wrong and nothing to lose by being part of many affiliate programs.

This may be true, it is a great way to have multiple sources of income. However, joining multiple programs and attempting to promote them all at the same time will cause you to sabotage yourself. It will prevent you from concentrating on each one of them properly.

The result? The true potential of your affiliate program is not reached and the income generated will not be as generous as you initially thought it would. The best way to achieve excellent result is by joining only one solid program that pays a 40% commission at least. Give it your best effort by promoting the product or service enthusiastically. As soon as you see that it is already making a reasonable profit, then maybe you can now join another affiliate program.

The best technique is to do it slowly but surely. There is really no need to rush into anything, especially with affiliate marketing. With the way things are going, the future is looking real bright and it seems affiliate marketing will be around for a long time.

A lot of affiliate marketers makes these mistakes and are paying dearly for their actions. Do not fall into the same situation they have been in, try to do whatever possible to avoid making the same mistakes.

Time is the key. Take the time to analyze your marketing strategy and check if you are on the right track. If done properly, you will be able to maximize your affiliate marketing program's potential and earn higher profits.

The Geeklog application makes the multiple author entry possible by setting fine-grained permission levels for each individual user. This enables you to decide for your site whether an individual user can be allowed to take up such functions as posting, editing contents, uploading files or including more users to the site.

It is the interactive features of Geeklog like comments thread, reader polls, shared image galleries or mailing lists that can help you to build up a community of users with matching wave length.

Geeklog also boasts of an efficient calendar system; the system allows administrators and users alike to post information about upcoming activities.

Finally, Geeklog allows you to set up polls -- a great way to know what your audience is actually thinking. Geeklog also has the built in feature of offering your own RSS feed, as well as integrating another site's RSS headlines into your own page.

It is common to feel the need for more advanced features as you progress through your web community build up process. So it is always advisable to start with some advanced package as offered by the Geeklog, so that you do not need to make a mess in the midway by migrating from one system to another.

Among the feature packed weblog systems, Geeklog definitely stands out with its many unique features. True that it is easy to operate, but you can skip the technical hurdles altogether by assigning a web hosting company to do the job for you. The best web hosting service and Geeklog weblog---together they can make wonder for clicking it off with your online community.

Network+ Certification Exam Tutorial: Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)

When you're studying for the Network+ exam, you've got to master the fundamentals of networking, because the Network+ is a hard exam to pass due to the range of information covered. One such fundamental is the Address Resolution Protocol, commonly referred to as ARP.

ARP operates at the Data Link layer of the OSI model, and its purpose is often overlooked. When Host A wants to send data to Host B, we know Host A must have a destination IP address for Host B (the Network layer address). What we tend to overlook is that Host A must also have a Layer 2 destination address for Host B -- in other words, it's got to have a destination MAC address for Host B. That's where ARP comes in.

Host devices, as well as switches and routers, keep a table that maps IP addresses to MAC addresses. This is an ARP Cache, and in our scenario Host A would first look in its own ARP Cache to see if it has a corresponding MAC address for Host B. If not, Host A will send out an ARP Request. This request is a broadcast, which means that every single device on the network segment will get it. (The broadcast MAC address is ff-ff-ff-ff-ff-ff.)

The ARP Request contains the IP address of the destination host, in this case Host B. The Request is basically saying, "Here's the IP address of the host I need to talk to. Will the device with this IP address send me its MAC address?"

Every host on the segment will receive the Request, but only the device with the IP address contained in the Request will respond to it. In this example, Host B will send a unicast ARP Response to Host A, telling Host A what its MAC address is. Host A now has the IP and MAC address for Host B, and can now send data successfully to Host B.

Since the ARP Request is a broadcast, there is no problem if there is a hub, repeater, or switch physically between Host A and Host B, since those devices forward broadcasts. Routers do NOT forward broadcasts, however, so if there is a router between Host A and Host B, there could be a problem. There is an ARP feature that addresses this problem, though, and we'll talk about that in my next Network+ exam tutorial!

How To Overcome A Lack Of Motivation At Work

It happens to all of us at some stage there is a particular task to be done at work and you just cant motivate yourself to do it. This procrastination or downright disinterest can lead to stress levels soaring. While you know that you are capable of doing a good even great job, your energy and enthusiasm just arent there. Lack of motivation at work can be highly unpleasant and may even jeopardize your chances of career success.

Put simply, motivation is the force that makes us do things. Motivation is an essential life skill it is what inspires us to complete a task. Since so many of us derive at least part of our sense of identity from our jobs, lack of motivation at work can be crippling and lead to low self-esteem and even quite severe depression as those suffering it miss the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that comes from doing a job to the best of ones ability.

Of course, true motivation comes from deep inside us. When it comes from the core of our being, we are fully involved in setting goals and achieving them. In order to achieve greater satisfaction and enjoy a more fulfilling work life, we need to get in touch with our core selves and remove the obstacles that are holding us back at a fundamental level. Hypnosis is a proven and effective way to overcome a lack of motivation at work and help people achieve perform optimally.

Hypnosis allows you to address the unconscious issues that are blocking your potential. It may be lack of desire or incentive that's stemming your motivation. You could use hypnosis to clearly visualize your goals - you can explore what it feels like to achieve your goal and future pace yourself to success. Maybe you're highly motivated in another part of your life. You can mesh the unconscious drive in the successful part of your life into your work life, and achieve the same levels of success at work.

You can use hypnosis to address security or confidence issues. Perhaps your fear of failure is slowing you down or maybe perfectionism makes achieving your goals more difficult than it need be. By exploring what would really happen if you did things only 80% well, you will find that you open yourself up to more opportunities that build your skills and experience way beyond your current expectations.

Procrastination and lack of motivation at work can be successfully resolved using hypnosis and a little effort to open up your thinking and changing your unhelpful, ingrained habits.

Your Resume Must Represent Your Career Goals

When drafting your resume, it is easy to fall into the habit of focusing on the past. After all, much of your resume will consist of a list of things youve donefrom positions youve held to special awards youve received to degrees youve attained. A resume is, in fact, a compilation of your professional and, in some cases, personal history. Therefore, admittedly, much of your resume will have sentences and clauses that are in the past tense.

And yet, a resume should also be a forward-looking document. In other words, it should not simply indicate where youve beenit should also inform a potential employer about where youre headed. As a result, in order to craft a truly effective resume, you must be somewhat futuristic in your thinking. This means clearly articulating your career goals within the text of your resume.

First Step: Define Your Goals

Placing your career goals on your resume can be quite a challenge if you do not have a clear idea of what those goals are. If you are in this position, youre certainly not alone. Many of us have difficulty visualizing where we would like to be five or ten years down our career path. In a number of cases, this may be the result of selling ourselves short, thinking that the highest levels of achievement in our chosen field are closed to us because we are lacking in some areainterpersonal communication, written communication, decision-making ability, or other job skills which are critically important for managers.

However, if you talk with someone who has made significant progress in his or her career, you might be surprised to learn that this individual also faced feelings of inadequacy or believed that he or she was ill prepared for the job now held. Even sons and daughters of business owners often have to start out in entry-level jobs before they master the skills and expertise needed to run a company. In other words, it would be wrong to assume that a corporate executive is inherently more talented or more intelligent than you are.

Through researchinterviewing executives, reading business magazines, and talking to members of professional organizations that you belong toyou should be able to develop a clearer idea of what your career goals are. Perhaps you would like to secure a managerial positionmaybe youd like to teach at the college levelor perhaps you would like to own your own company some day. Jot both immediate and long-term goals down on paper so you have some idea what kind of information youd like to convey on your resume.

Showcase Your Goals

Once you have defined your career goals, it is important that you showcase them on your resume. Of course, there are various schools of thought about how to highlight career goals most effectively. Which approach you ultimately decide to take depends on a number of factors: what your colleagues and mentors consider to be most effective; what you yourself are comfortable with; and what is the most appropriate approach for the position youre attempting to pursue.

One effective means of spotlighting your career goals is by placing them under a Career Objective category in your resume. This category affords you the opportunity to clearly articulate the direction in which youd like your career path to go. If you have more than one career goal to list, its perhaps most effective to list your goals in bullet-point format.

But there are also some other creative ways you can indicate your career goals on your resume. For instance, in the supplemental information you provide for each position youve held, you can indicate how that particular jobor the duties that came with ithelped to move you toward your career goal. As with all the other text in your resume, this information should be stated clearly and succinctly. A simple phrase can inform a prospective employer about how a position aided you in developing the skills needed for achieving your career goals.

Avoid the Temptation of Omitting Critical Information

Unfortunately, some job seekers become so focused on their career goals that they feel that they have to radically alter their resumes in order to demonstrate their dedication to their goals. Such an approach is sure to backfire because it creates a resume that is misleading. When an employer discovers that you have omitted key information, he or she may be understandably reluctant to hire you.

For instance, consider the following scenario: Youve just learned about a position that is available at a highly-respected company known for its fantastic promotion policies, benefit packages, and other perks. This is exactly the type of job youd like to havenot only because of the opportunities it presents, but also because it would help you immensely in accomplishing your long-term career goals.

You decide that a resume re-draft is absolutely essential. However, when you begin the re-writing process, you decide to give a major makeover to the Experience section of your resume. You eliminate every job that does not directly relate to your career goal. By streamlining your resume, you hope to increase your chances of securing the position you desire.

Unfortunately, things in the business world are not that simple. By omitting references to certain jobs in your resume, you are doing a disservice to your employerand to yourself. You are making it appear as if youve been headed in the same direction throughout your career when, in fact, your career might have taken a number of twists and turns. In addition, your streamlining has resulted in the appearance of serious gaps in your work history. If a would-be employer believes that you were unemployed for long periods of time, he or she may simply place your resume in the reject pile.

Be Open-Minded

Recognize that your career goals can change throughout your employment. As a result, you may need to tinker with the career goals text in your resume every so often. This is not an admission of defeatrather, it is simply an indication that, as your work experience broadens, your ultimate objectives may evolve, taking you along paths you never dreamed possible.

How To Find The Best Deals Online

On the Internet, you can find just about anything you want to buy, but how do you get the best deal you possibly can? This article will show you how.

Price Comparison Search Engines

There are dozens of search engines that will allow you to compare prices at hundreds, even thousands of online stores without having to go to each site separately, which can take alot of time to do on your own. Some of the best general ones are PriceGrabber.com, Shopzilla.com, Nextag.com and MySimon.com. All of these sites will allow you to type in what you are looking for and will allow you to zero in on the store that has your desired item for the lowest possible price. These search engines should be one of your first stops when shopping for deals.

Specialty Price Comparison Search Engines

For different shopping categories, there are specialty price comparison search engines for them. For books, check out AddAll.com. For computers and technology items, try pricewatch.com, techbargains.com and shopper.cnet.com. For DVD's, try dvdpricesearch.com.

Coupon Codes

There are many sites that list coupon codes for all the large online stores. Whether it's large department stores, chain stores or smaller specialty stores, there are often coupon codes available for them. The code might allow you to take a certain percentage off the price, get you free shipping, a free gift, buy one get one free of some item or another deal. It always pays off to search around for coupon codes before making your purchase. Some great sites that list coupon codes for online stores include eCoupons.com, CurrentCodes.com and CouponMountain.com, among many others.

Deal & Bargain Forums

As a bargain hunter and deal finder, you are certainly not alone on the net. There are many forums where people gather and share deal information and alerts, post coupon codes and discuss online bargains. Some of the most popular ones are: FatWallet.com, SlickDeals.net and CheapStingyBargains.com.

Outlets & Refurbished Items

Just like the offline world where big brand name stores offer their overstock, clearance and refurbished items at outlet stores, many companies have a separate website or area of their website which offers these items for purchase online. Great deals can be had here. Apple, for instance, sells refurbished iPods at it's outlet store at Apple.com for a fraction of the cost of their new iPods.

Big Stores

Many of the largest web stores offer great deals and special sale areas. Don't skip sites like Amazon.com and Buy.com, they often have very good deals and prices on their items due to the massive volume they sell. At Amazon, if you find that something you want is out of stock or too expensive for you, they may have the same item available at other stores for less or even used and they will show you this on the item page!

Auctions

There are thousands of online auction sites, ranging from small auction sites that specialize in certain areas to the granddaddy of them all, eBay. On eBay, you can type in the item you are looking for and find both new and used auctions running for many items. It's always a good idea to check eBay when deal shopping, you'll get an idea of what the item is going for currently and whether you're getting a good deal elsewhere on the web.

Extra Tips

Don't forget to check reviews of your item before buying. You can check Amazon.com, Epinions.com, ConsumerReports.org and Cnet.com for reviews of a wide range of items. Also, don't forget to factor shipping costs into your deal hunting. Always check on the shipping cost before making a purchase, otherwise you could end up paying a fortune. Some web stores bring you in with great prices and deals, but will make up for it by charging you an exhorbitant amount for shipping.

In summary, armed with these tips you should be able to go out on the web confidently and find the best deal on that item or special gift you have been looking for.

How to Sell T-shirts Online

This article is intended as a guide for those who are looking for answers about selling t-shirts on-line. This guide is by no means perfect. It is written by me, based ONLY on my personal experiences. Forums, blogs, as well as, the printing company in question's home page are great places to start getting additional information.

What is my experience with selling t-shirts?

In 1999 my first son, Brandon, was born. Long before he could actually talk, he began the "baby talk." Mostly goos and such. He was a perfect baby. He slept all night, was NEVER sick., always happy., and always smiling. Anyway, when he began this baby talk, he would (as most babies do) say, what sounded like, "I Good." The good was a bit long drawn out. My wife, Laurie, and I would always respond with something like "I know youre good." And that was absolutely the truth, as I said before he was a perfect baby. I soon came up with the idea that it would be cute to have a little t-shirt for him that said "I good." Laurie agreed. We soon went to Wal-Mart and bought iron-on t-shirt transfers. I made a simple blue phrase using Microsoft Paint, "I Goood." I added the extra o to make the word more drawn out like he was saying it. By the end of the night he had a t-shirt that said I Goood. My wife and I made ourselves one with his picture on it. Laurie loved the shirt. She still has it. It's 6+ years later, it's a bit worn, but she still has it. I was hooked on the idea of making t-shirts. I very soon began thinking, "I wander how I could sell these. They're cute, and every baby says I goood. I know this would sell, if I could just market it. But how do I market something that only exists in my brain." My wife and I were not wealthy. We had only been married a couple years. She didn't work, and I was making just enough to pay bills. We had no money or experience. I soon gave up the idea. It was a hopeless dream.

Four years later, our lives had changed a little. We were living in a new house. I had a new job. My wife had a new job. She was pregnant with our second son. We both had returned to school. I had recently bought a new laptop for school. It was late January 2003. One slow Saturday at work, two co-workers, and myself, were sitting around bored. It was me (I'm a clinic nurse), the receptionist, and the doctor. We 3 have a great time at work. We are always playing pranks, telling jokes, and generally having a good time. I was flipping through a magazine when I say an article title that said "Football takes balls." It was a pun, and I love puns. I was thinking "that's a great line." A lot of things could take balls. I took a sticky note and quickly sketched a few little pictures, each complete with a little slogan. One had a football and goal post; it said "It takes BALLS." Another had a prisoner with his striped cloths, and two balls attached to his ankles with chains. It said "prison takes BALLS." Another had a canon. It said "It takes BALLS." I showed my pictures to my two co-workers hoping for a mere laugh, after all I drew 5 or 6 of these in a matter of 10 minutes, so I didn't put that much work into them. Like I said, all I wanted was a little laugh. What I got was unexpected. They both really liked the pictures. They both began telling me I should try and sell these ideas or try to get someone to put these on t-shirts. I just blew it off, I already went down that road with "I Good," and it is a dead end street. I don't have the means or know how to do such a thing.

Where do I go to sell t-shirts

When I was thinking about selling t-shirts, I was thinking about selling a design to someone who could make a shirt with the design on it, and then they could sell the t-shirt. I would make money selling the design to the t-shirt company. I began surfing the net, on my lap top, looking for someone who would buy my designs. This was almost hopeless. It was nearly impossible to find a trustworthy company who would buy designs. That's when I stumbled upon CafPress. They didn't actually buy designs, but they would allow you to upload designs and then sell those designed t-shirts in a CafeShop, absolutely free. That's right, at no cost. At that time, CafPress offered a few items to sell. White t-shirts, thongs, lunch box, coffee mugs, as well as a few other items.

CafPress, Too good to be true?

I joined CafPress on February 6, 2003. I started with a few basic shops.

Was CafPress too good to be true? Did I get rich quick? Was this an easy way to make money? Well lets just say I didn't quit my day job. I uploaded all my designs, put them on shirts, and then waited for them to sale. And waited some more. Then I waited a bit longer. After that I waited a little more. Eleven month of waiting had gone past, not one single sale. My wife said I was wasting my time "playing on the computer." I was starting to think so too. I just didn't want to give up. I thought my ideas and designs could sale if I could figure out how to market them.

In January 2004, my wife decided she wanted to get one of my "Wanna Monkey Around t-shirts." We ordered one, and I was shocked. The shirt itself was OK, but my designed sucked. It was very pixilated. It was blurry, and looked very unprofessional. I was glad that none had sold. To my horror, my sister ordered one of these awful shirts before I had the time to fix it. I spent weeks redoing my images. I ended up profiting $9.49 in 2004. What a great year right? I think it was. It gave me the chance to make mistakes and learn how to make better designs.

Time to get serious.

In late 2004 I knew if I wanted to sell t-shirts, I need to have a way to drive traffic to my CafeShop, but how? Part of the solution was to get my own domain name. I chose web hosting through Yahoo. I then registered TshirtManiacs.com. I also began paying for a premium CafPress shop. Over the next year I made new designs and CafPress added new items to put my designs on. Again I didn't get rich, but I did make a $505.17. That is a 53 times increase from last year. Now I'm not going to say what I've made in 2006, but I will say I'm expecting to make a few thousand this year. So it's a little improvement in last two years. I only do this part time, and I put NO money into it. If I were to invest in ads, and other forms of advertisement who knows what the profit potential is. For now, I am happy with where I am at.

CafPress and it's competitors.

CafPress is a great service. It is very easy to use. Very inexpensive (basic shops are free). CafPress offers a large selection of products to sell, including the best selling t-shirt. They are an award winning service with great customer service, great products, shopkeeper forums, and much, much more. They do their best to offer great products and service to both their customers and shopkeepers. Currently they have more than 22,000,000 products available by their shopkeepers. They have search system that is beyond compare. It is very easy for shoppers to find the product and design they want. They also have a wonderful affiliate plan too.

What does CafPress offer?

You can sell: Merchandise you design including t-shirts, posters, mugs, bumper stickers and much more Books printed on-demand Audio and Data CDs

What CafePress.com does

Gives you a FREE online shop to promote your products

Handles all payment transactions including major credit cards
Ships your products worldwide
Manages all returns/exchanges
Offers customer service via toll-free phone and email
Sends you a monthly check for your earnings on sales!

Can I really make money?

Yes! Some of the shopkeepers earn over $100,000 a year. Premium Shops earn 10X more than Basic shops on average. Plus thousands of members earn a steady stream of income through their CafePress.com shop.

How it works:

Each product has a Base Price that includes all fees associated with selling. You simply set your retail price above the Base Price. When you sell an item, we keep the base price and we send you the markup.

For example:

Value T-Shirt has a base price of $8.99
You decide to markup the price to $13.99
When you sell one shirt, you generate earnings of $5.00.
CafPress sends you a commission check for your total markups once per month.

How much does it cost?

With a CafPress Basic Shop, you can start selling for free. And, there are no inventory costs associated with selling products through either a Basic or Premium Shop.

Each item you sell has a base price. You simply markup the base price by the amount you wish to earn for each product you sell. When you sell a product, we keep the base price and you earn the markup.

If you are serious about making money on CafePress.com, check out the Premium Shops service. Premium Shops cost $6.95 at the monthly rate, or as little as $4.99 per month at the yearly rate. There are additional benefits associated with a Premium Shop to help you sell more.

How much time will it take to get my shop online?
Once your digital content is ready, you can create and launch your online shop in minutes. All you need to do is upload your content, choose the products you wish to sell and set your prices. If you don't have your images or content prepared. By spending a little time to optimize your images, you can ensure your products will look their best.

How can people find my products on CafPress?
There are two ways people will find your products:

1. You will have your own online shop.

For example: http://www.cafepress.com/ShopID

When you open your shop, you will choose a Shop ID that will become part of your shop's URL (see above). With your own URL
you can:

Promote your shop on your web site
Email your shop link/URL to friends and family
Buy ads on Google and other search engines

2. The CafePress.com Marketplace
Shopkeepers will be able to purchase your products directly from the CafePress.com Marketplace, which is visited by millions of
people each month.

The Competitors
Now in the mid-summer of 2005 I tried one of CafPress' competitors because they had black t-shirts. At the time CafPress didn't offer this service. The competitor was mediocre compared with CafPress. They offered a few items that CafPress did not. But they just didn't have the same level of search that CafPress offers. The profits were not as good as with CafPress either. Now, don't get me wrong, they were a fine company. Nothing was wrong with the service they offered. It was simply that CafPress offered a better service.

Now am I dead set on using CafPress? The answer is no. I really like CafPress. But if a competitor comes out with a service better than that of CafPress, I may begin using that. They thing is, I don't think CafPress will ever lag behind. They are the print on demand industry leader, and I think they always will be.

What do I need to sell t-shirts online?

First, and foremost, you need creativity and a imagination. Hope is another good thing. You also must have determination and a strong will to succeed. You need to have thick skin and the ability to take an criticism in a constructive way. (Yes, you will have those who criticize you.) Those are all traits that are needed by the person who are wanting to sell t-shirts online. One trait that is maybe the most important is patience. Selling t-shirts online is no get rich thing.

Other things needed are a good computer, good Internet access, and available time to invest in your new business. I would suggest a domain name of your own and a premium CafPress shop also. You can start your ad campaigns with the use of a credit card, but spend wisely.

That is all the startup you need.

Conclusion

Can you make money selling t-shirts online. YES! Is it easy? YES! Does it require a lot of work? YES. Selling t-shirts online is no get rich quick scheme. Heck, you will most likely never get filthy rich doing it. You can, however, make extra spending money easily and have a good time. You could make a good living at selling t-shirts if you wanted too. It is entirely left up to you, your wants, your needs, and your dreams.

10 Easy Tips to Help You Profit From Your Website

Hundreds of thousands of webmasters across the world make money online with their websites. Why not you? Here are 10 easy tips that you can use on your website to make it profitable. As with any good website however, you first need quality original content!

1. Google AdSense - Make money selling advertising space. While banner ads are not worth your time for the most part, Google AdSense is. Many web site owners make a comfortable living off of AdSense profit alone.

2. Affiliate Marketing - Make money referring your website traffic to other websites. Dont have a product? That is 100% O.K. Just add someone else product to your site by joining an affiliate program and forget about it. If you have related content (free information) you will see a slow trickle of income from your affiliate links.

3. Write an eBook - Sell your own idea or product. I know it sounds like a day dream, but people do this all the time. In fact, it is the most common method that people use to make money. Write an eBook, offer consultations, or make something people will use. In this category, you are only limited by your imagination.

4. Create an online directory - Sell text links. Add a directory area to your site and offer to place links to other web sites for a small fee.

5. Become a Paid Blogger. Offer to blog for companies. Blogging is fast becoming an important link building strategy for online companies. There are hundreds of small businesses that could benefit from a professional blog but, do not have the resources to hire a full time employee. You have a website, put it to use!

6. Open your own eBay store. Buy low, sell high. There is no easier place to sell than online with your own eBay store. You can concentrate on a particular type of product like coins and antiques or you can sell a wide variety.

7. Host an online competition. Offer prizes for the first, second and third place winners. Your competition can be on almost anything. Think of a way to offer a competition, create a small entry fee and you are set!

8. Create a member only area. You can create a members only site about anything from Fan Clubs, Online Newsletters, Courses and Training, Stock Trading Tips, Dating Sites, Personal Advice, Horoscopes, Family Trees, and so on. Again, your only limitation is your imagination. If you have a site already up and running, offer something in your paid members area that they cannot easily get for free.

9. Begin a paid advice service. Free information is great and will draw readers to your site. Once there, help the reader out with some basic information. Save the real meat for those that are willing to pay a small fee.

10. Sell your site. Why drag on a project for years when you can get in, get out and turn a quick (albeit smaller) profit? Create your site, get it listed in the search engines, make sure you get a few dollars a week in online advertising and sell your site for a few thousand dollars.

How To Begin Earning Super Affiliate Income In 14 Days

The reason anyone becomes an affiliate of any affiliate program is to make money. You deserve all the money you make when you put a lot of effort into promoting an affiliate program. After years of successfully promoting different affiliate programs and advising others about affiliate programs, I have discovered that those who earn Super Affiliate income, continuously choose certain types of programs.

I shall briefly name and explain the characteristics of an affiliate program that will speedily produce Super Affiliate income for you. These are the kind of high income generating products or services the top Super Affiliates choose. The characteristics listed below are not listed in order of importance:

1. LARGE MARKET: Some so called Guru's will advice you to target small niche markets. This is all good, but how come they mostly target large markets themselves? Or do you really think such tiny niche markets give them their massive affiliate incomes? To earn Super income from your affiliate program, you need to target a large, and hungry market. This will shoot your sales through the roof.

2. NEW AND FRESH PROGRAM: Another thing Super Affiliates won't reveal to you is that they constantly look for new products with an uncrowded affiliate presence. This way they quickly dominate such programs before thousands start promoting the same product. Promote when the product is fresh.

3. HIGH PERCENTAGE PAYMENTS: The honest truth is that if a product is good, its owner should be able to offer Affiliates a large percentage of the profit from sales. The owner of such a product has nothing to lose, they will make lots of money from volume sales coming from several affiliates. A good high earning affiliate program should be able to offer its affiliates at least 50% or higher of the profit made from sales from its product. After all, the affiliate is spending a lot of time and money promoting such a product.

4. TRUSTED PAYMENT SYSTEM: A high income generating affiliate program will always make use of secure and trusted payment system. Trusted third party payment services such as Clickbank and Paypal are services to watch out for in good affiliate programs. Super Affiliates promote products using such payment systems.

5. A PRODUCT IN HIGH DEMAND: Now, this is one of the most important secrets the Super Affiliates won't reveal to you. They constantly watch out for new, products in high demand.

New Product + Huge demand + High demand = Tons of cash from sales for you.

This is a simple formula that works every time, for those who follow it. You too should be earning truck loads of cash from promoting affiliate products. A product in high demand is a product which fulfills a major need for a large group of people.

6. BRAND ABILITY: You can earn large affiliate income from any affiliate program which, encourages you to brand or customize promotional materials. A program that for example gives you the opportunity, to brand a promotional, Free copy of their marketing material is a good program with great potential. This could be an e-book you can brand with your affiliate link.

There you have it. These are the secrets those who earn top dollar from their affiliate programs know. There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be earning truck loads of cash from affiliate programs like the big Boys and Girls in affiliate marketing do. Wishing you success as you now seek out more information about the type of affiliate programs described above.

Creating Multiple Streams of Affiliate Marketing Income

Have you ever heard or read the phrase "multiple streams of income" before? Do you know what this phrase means? For many businessmen, creating multiple streams of income online or offline is one way of securing themselves as well as their businesses in the future. They also believe that it can also save them from the so-called famine effect in the business industry. Once you are engaged in affiliate marketing business, it is advisable if you have multiple streams of affiliate marketing income so that if one of those income streams vanished, it will not upset you the way losing your sole stream would. If you depend on just one source of income and this single stream has been downsized or has lain off, you'll surely find yourself bankrupted and hopeless. Try to ask the most successful online entrepreneurs, and you'll discover that they have established multiple streams of online income.

There is a businessman that said and attested that the very first step you must take in creating multiple streams of income is to assess or evaluate your resources. Start by assessing yourself first. Jot down your answers to the following questions: What are the talents, abilities, strength and gears that you possess? Are you gifted with excellent and creative writing skills? Can you do well at sales? Are you good in communicating with people? Are you born with an artistic skill or unique ability that other people don't have? Through this, you can determine the kind of business where can possibly excel.

Next, look around and write down you assets and physical resources such as computer, color printer, scanner, digital camera, cell phone, CD or DVD burner. Write these all down because it can be used as a resource. Consider also your friends and family. Find out what do they possess that you have access to. Remember that no man is an island. You can use the talents, abilities, knowledge and resources of everyone you know.

That's basically the initial step if you want to create multiple income streams. But if you're already a webmaster or a site owner, you definitely have an edge. Why don't you join affiliate marketing business to help you gain extra income out of your own website?

If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole income story from informed sources.

Being involved in affiliate marketing is one of the most desirable ways to make multiple sources of income. It is because affiliate marketing programs come in various shapes and forms. There are a large number of affiliate marketing programs that you can sign on with and start gaining bucks right away. In affiliate marketing, you can make money by promoting and reselling your affiliate products and by recruiting new affiliates. What's good about this is that you can find widest array of training materials that can enhance your marketing abilities. In affiliate marketing, you can be sure that there are genuine products to promote and sell and there is real income to make.

Either part time or full time, being an affiliate marketer is an excellent way to create multiple income streams by means of promoting products and services from web merchants. Here, you can get affiliate commission without investing big bucks in making your own product and without worrying about book keeping, customer support and ecommerce. All you have to do is to promote and resell the products and services in your site and pass on potential customer's the merchant's site.

In affiliate marketing, it is advisable to promote more merchants in your site so that your visitors will have variety of destinations to choose from. Using multiple merchants in the same site or niche means only one thing-you have multiple streams of affiliate income. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this business strategy because this is one of the best ways to protect your business and expanding your horizons. Through this, you can be assured that you won't experience crisis if ever one of your web merchants closed his/her program.

However, you should choose only those affiliate programs that interest you so that you can effectively advertise and promote them. Don't ever be tempted into signing up for numerous affiliate programs in the hope that one of them will bring income. Select wisely and don't be engaged in selling products you know nothing about. Go with the stuff that jives with your enthusiasm; your passion can capture your client by the nose and guide him/her to your affiliate link.

You should also work hard to make your multiple streams of income more stable. You can do this by embracing some strategies and tactics and by developing within yourself, some traits that can help you become successful in any kind of business such as patience, persistence and thirst for knowledge.

Lastly, just remember the adage that says "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." So that if one of them is lost, you can still have some to make omelets. And what do these eggs have to do with multiple streams of affiliate income? Well, it goes without saying that the more streams of income you possess, the bigger and better your money lake becomes.

Don't limit yourself by refusing to learn the details about income. The more you know, the easier it will be to focus on what's important.

Becoming an Affiliate - The Fast Track to Internet Marketing

If you are new to internet marketing, and looking for a way to create guaranteed income without having to wade through the virtual minefield of "easy money", "get rich quick" and other online schemes that promise the moon but generally fail to deliver, becoming an affiliate or a reseller and following a proven success formula is the quickest way I have found to develop a positive online cash flow quickly.

This is also one of the most effective ways of learning the skills needed to survive in a very competitive market.

What most people dont tell you when you first start out, is that usually to become a success with an online marketing business, you definitely need to have more than a working knowledge of internet marketing principles and applications. This can take years to master before you see a reward for your efforts. This is one of the main reasons a great majority of new online business owners fail or give up in their 1st year.

By becoming an affiliate you are not only learning from years of successful online marketing experience, but the profits you make from your affiliate membership can greatly enhance your financial circumstances and also give you the funds needed to market your own future campaigns.

Being able to develop multiple streams of income is also a huge advantage, and of course the more streams of income you can develop the better your results will be. As an affiliate this can be achieved with readily available resources and generally at an affordable cost.

Getting traffic to your website is another major factor with online success, and learning through an affiliate programme with a step by step system that shows you exactly what to do, allows anyone to succeed.

The hardest part of marketing online and making a serious income, is not learning how to become an expert marketer overnight, it's picking the right program, product or opportunity, and following a formula of proven success that will enhance your own future online success and prosperity.

For those just venturing into internet marketing, at the following link you will see my reviews of what I believe to be one of the best and most affordable affiliate Internet Businesses to be associated with right now. http://www.multiplereturns.com

YES, there is money to be made on the internet, but it doesnt come instantly. It does require work on your part, but being able to work with, and learn from affiliate partners who will provide you with the knowledge and resources to build a solid foundation for a successful online career, is definitely worth the time and effort in the beginning.

How To Build A Money Making Affiliate Website

An Affiliate Website is a site in which you sell other peoples E-products. You make money on commission.

Bob Seger Tickets: IXS

Bob Seger developed into one of the most popular heartland rockers over the course of the '70s. Originally He was a hard-driving rocker in the vein of fellow Michigan garage rockers the Rationals and Mitch Ryder. He successfully created a unique American Sound which was actually the combination of the driving charge of Ryder's Detroit Wheels with Stonesy garage rock and devotion to hard-edged soul and R&B(http://events.ixs.net/R-B-Soul.aspx ). Inspite of many lost opportunities of the initial Years of his career, Seger finally achieved a national audience in 1976 with the back-to-back release of his albums Live Bullet and Night Moves. These two Albums were a superb success which helped Seger in retaining his popularity for the coming two decades, releasing seven Top Ten, platinum-selling albums in a row.

Seger shown his interest in music in his early age. He began playing music in 1961 as the leader of the Detroit-based trio the Decibels; his future manager, Eddie "Punch" Andrews was also a member of the band. Moving to Ann Arbor, he played with the Town Criers before he became the keyboardist and vocalist for Doug Brown & the Omens. The band released "The Ballad of the Yellow Beret," that was parody of the Sgt. Barry Sadler song "The Ballad of the Green Beret." However, It proved a set back for them when Sadler threatened a lawsuit against this song.Resultantly, The single was withdrawn shortly after its release.

The First Solo Single of Seger was "East Side Story, which was released in 1966. This song gained huge popularity and soon it became a regional hit. Many other local hit singles followed on Cameo Records, including "Persecution Smith" and "Heavy Music," before his label folded. The Year 1968 was very important in the Career of Bob Seger as in this year, He successfully formed the Bob Seger System and got the golden opportunity of signing with the reknowned Capitol Records. His debut album, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, was released by Capitol Records in the spring of this eventual year. The title track met a grand success and it became a national hit, climbing to number 17.

Seger achieved a commercial breakthrough with his 1976 album Night Moves which featured several hits including the highly evocative title song. Night Moves became a blockbuster, generating the hit singles "Night Moves," "Mainstreet," and "Rock & Roll Never Forgets." Stranger in Town, released in the summer 1978, was just as successful, featuring the hits "Still the Same," "Hollywood Nights," "We've Got Tonite," and "Old Time Rock & Roll." His most recognizable songs are almost certainly "Old Time Rock & Roll" (featured in the film Risky Business) and "Like a Rock" (most familiar to many younger Americans through its association with a long-running Chevrolet ad campaign). Seger also co-wrote the Eagles #1 hit song "Heartache Tonight" from their 1979 album The Long Run.

Keeping in view of his grand successes, Seger was acknowledged as America's most popular rockers. Seger's next album, 1980's Against the Wind, became his first number one album and all of its big hits -- "Fire Lake," "Against the Wind," "You'll Accomp'ny Me" -- were ballads. The live album Nine Tonight continued his multi-platinum success in 1981, selling three million copies and peaking at number three.

Seger released his next popular Album The Distance in 1982.While The Distance featured "Shame on the Moon," his biggest hit single to date, it had a record breaking sales of a million copies which shows his unmatched popularity.Seger also began to drastically reduce his recording and touring schedules -- he only released one other album, 1986's Like a Rock, during the '80s. Like a Rock and its supporting tour were both successes, paving the way for "Shakedown," a song taken from the soundtrack to Beverly Hills Cop II, to become Seger's lone number one hit in 1987. Four years after its release, he returned with The Fire Inside. Although the album went platinum and reached the Top Ten, it only appealed to Seger's devoted following, as did 1995's It's a Mystery, which became his first album since Live Bullet to fail to go platinum, leveling off at gold status.

Also during 2004, Seger was working on his first new album in 10 years, titled Face the Promise which was released on September 12, 2006. The first single, "Wait For Me", landed on radio in July.

The Encyclopedia of Rock And Roll stated that "His throaty, authoritative delivery is a pleasure to listen to, and the Silver Bullet Band is superb."

UNDER THE BONNET

Do you know your way around under the hood of your car? While not as critical as it used to be, periodically checking under the hood can head off problems before they become costly. Today, with self-service gas stations everywhere, often the only way you will get it done is for you to do it yourself.

Start by reading your car owners manual. There will always be a section on under bonnet checks. A word about safety though: read the safety warnings in your owners manual and any safety warning stickers under the hood. Also, it's advisable that you keep a pair of old gloves and a roll of paper towels in the boot.

If the engine has been running for any length of time, there are areas under the hood that can be very hot. Except for checking transmission fluid level, all checks should be done while the engine is turned off. If the engine is running, do not put your hands near any belts or fans.

BATTERY

Most batteries today are "maintenance free", which simply means that you can't check the water level. This doesn't mean however, that there is nothing to check. The main things to check are the top of the battery, which should be clean and dry, and the terminal connections, which should be clean and tight. If the top of the battery continuously becomes damp or corroded soon after cleaning, then have the charging system and battery checked by your mechanic.

Happy motoring and remember the best source to buy a used car today is OzFreeOnline.com Cars Section. To sell your car, you can use our free car listings We promise, it'll cost you nothing.

Well have more tips for caring for your car next week.

The Big Affiliate Lie

Top affiliate marketing experts tell you that only 1 out of 100 affiliates ever really do anything with the business. Yet, they tell everyone how much money they can make as an affiliate! Do you see a problem here?

Having a 1% chance of success is not the kind of business I want to start. That's even worse than the average retail business...No thanks. It's a good thing you don't have to accept those odds.

Those odds are for the average "Joe." Let me tell you how the average Joe markets the affiliate program...including their thought process.

They see an affiliate program paying 50% commission and their mind jumps to attention. They can make $50 off every $100 sale...They don't have to write any ads...and all they have to do is follow the step-by-step system already laid out for them.

In other words, they don't even have to think either! They jump at the chance and sign up for Free.

They get the instructions emailed to them from the affiliate manager. The instructions tell them to take this 5 line ad and place it in ezines. So they say, "OK, I can afford $40 for an ad." They place the ad and one sale occurs. Good. They at least made a $10 profit.

They say, "Hmmm, maybe that ezine wasn't that good of one." So they place two more ads for $75 and $100. One of these ads does well and makes 2 sales. They earned a $25 profit (paying $75 for the ad). The second ad only made one sale. They lost $50 on this one (since they paid $100 for the ad). They have now made 4 sales, and have lost a total $15.

They give up on this affiliate program in frustration. They join another affiliate program hoping this one will be answer. Maybe that last one just didn't sell good enough. This new affiliate program tells you to place "Pay-Per-Click" search engine advertising.

He says, "Yes, that's the answer. They had me placing the wrong advertising!"

Average "Joe" now spends all day coming up with keywords. He finds out that there aren't many 1 penny opportunities out there anymore...and that you have to spend 10 cents, 20 cents, or more for most of the keywords. So he ends up paying $100 the first month for clickthroughs and makes 3 sales.

This affiliate program pays the same commission so this adds up to $50 in profit. The same amount of clickthroughs occur the next month, but only 2 sales occur. So, average Joe just breaks even this month.

So average Joe gives up on this affiliate program and joins a new one. This time average "Joe" says, "I know the secret now. I have to only use Free advertising." So Joe spends 10 hours writing his first article and sends it out to ezines.

One of them runs the article and 1 sale occurs. So average "Joe" earns $50. The only problem is that this breaks down to only $5 an hour once you count the amount of time spent to produce this sale. Average "Joe" could have done a lot better working overtime at their job!

So average "Joe" says forget it to the whole idea...

Let's take a look at what happened. Sometimes money would be made. Other times money was lost. Do you notice who makes a profit no matter what happens...and never has to risk a penny? That's right. The affiliate manager makes money no matter what!

The average affiliate may earn or lose money. The affiliate manager only pays them when they generate a profit. So the affiliate manager wins on the deal whether the advertising system they write up for their affiliates works well or not.

The deck is stacked against the average affiliate. They only had a 1% chance of playing this game and winning.

Let's change the odds.

The big myth of online affiliate programs is that someone will "hand" you a good income. All you have to do is sign up for Free, and it's like money in the bank. Most people realize this, but the affiliate program managers make it sound so easy sometimes.

The key to becoming a successful affiliate is to stack the deck in your favor. This will shock some people, but I'll say it anyway.

The best way to succeed in an affiliate program is NOT to lead people to the product site. The best way isn't to build a mini-site that leads into the product site either. Both of those methods promote the affiliate manager...and leave you out of the profit loop.

The best way to make money in affiliate programs is to build an opt-in email list and then promote one affiliate product after another to your list. The purpose of your web site is to build a list. If you're doing anything else with it, then you're missing out.

Focus on building your list...and then selling the products you affiliate with. Then, you become the one in control. It's your list. If you want to promote Suzy's product, then you do it. If Suzy doesn't pay you well enough, then you can promote someone else's product. You still OWN the list.

You can change income streams, but you own the RIVER.
